If PayPal ever asks you to provide a phone number for “customer service” contact, know that they might show this to buyers. This is separate from Ampwall but it comes into play when you enable ApplePay and GooglePay. Read more in our docs here.
Sign into your account at paypal.com. If you have a Business Account, you’ll see lots of language about “business.” You can also visit PayPal’s Account Settings page, go to “Account Preferences”, and it will show account type.
PayPal provides you with the ability to convert a Personal Account to Business. This is a good option if:
Once you hit that $5,000 threshold, PayPal will force you to convert your account anyway.
For casual sellers, losing the ability to receive Friends & Family payments is a killer. If you share your PayPal account with your Artist identity, we recommend you setup a new PayPal Business Account. It’s free and pretty fast.
You’ll be in good company: everyone on Ampwall’s team has separate PayPal accounts for each of their bands and they’re all Business accounts.
